CFA Society Cyprus and MUFG Investor Services joint event

CFA Society Cyprus and MUFG Investor Services held a joint event in Limassol on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024.
The purpose of this event is to introduce our Society to MUFG Investor Services and vice versa. The evening will included networking and presentations from MUFG Investor Services, CFA Society Cyprus and a representative of CFA Institute.

All those who joined had the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking views of the Limassol skyline and sunset from the rooftop of MUFG Investor Services.

Annual CFA Forecasting Event 2024

Another Annual CFA Cyprus Forecasting Event took place last Friday at the beautiful Nicosia Municipal Theatre, followed by an outdoor dinner at the adjacent Garden Day & Night restaurant.

The Event was attended by CFA Charterholders from Cyprus and abroad, business leaders, government officials, industry experts and the academic community, making it an excellent occasion to listen to and exchange views, as well as network with like-minded individuals.

Private Equity Bootcamp

An interactive educational bootcamp, organized by the CFA Society Cyprus, took place in the presence of members of the Association and high-ranking executives of audit and advisory firms on March 21st, 2024.

The bootcamp focused on the knowledge and skills needed to invest in Private Equity and to advise clients on Private Equity Investments, presented by Steve Balaban, CFA, Chief Investment Officer at Mink Capital, an award-winning lecturer at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada (Private Equity and Wealth Management courses) and a Private Equity Matter Expert for the CFA Institute as a Contributing Author for the CFA Level I and Level III curriculum.

Speaker: Steve Balaban, CFA

Steve Balaban, CFA, is a thought leader on private equity with experiences as an investor, advisor and award-winning lecturer. He is the Chief Investment Officer of Mink Capital where he advises, consults and educates family offices on how to invest in private equity. Due to the rising demand from family offices, financial institutions and service providers in private equity, he launched Mink Learning, a private equity education company that offers videos, resources and training to make the complex world of private equity simple.

Steve is also an award-winning lecturer at the University of Waterloo where he has created new courses on private equity, wealth management and the international course, a course that takes students to different areas of the world each year. His approach to education is unique as he uses innovative technologies and experiential teaching methods to explain concepts to his students. His passion for teaching resulted in being the only lecturer in the history of the University of Waterloo to win both the Distinguished Teaching Award (Steve Balaban – Distinguished Teaching Award) and the WUSA Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award in the same year.

In an effort to educate his students and the general public about private equity, Steve launched a one-of-a-kind Private Equity YouTube Channel to make the complex world of private equity simple. Steve is also a contributing author on the subject of private equity for the CFA Institute and he served on the Board of Directors for the CFA Society Toronto.

Prior to Mink Capital and the University of Waterloo, Steve worked at Dunkley Capital where he invested in private equity, including a consolidation of billboard companies throughout Canada where he served as President of Stellar Outdoor Advertising.

Steve received a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, where he graduated on the Dean’s List, and received an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. He has also earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Steve has extensive international experience. He has worked, studied and visited over 85 countries in every continent in the world.

Annual Forecasting Event: May 3rd, 2023

CFA Society Cyprus hosted its Annual Forecasting Dinner, with great success, on Wednesday May 3rd, 2023 at Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa in Limassol.

This years Forecasting Event was entitled “Economic outlook for the year 2023-2024” and focused on the future and prospects of the global economy, the changes in the investment landscape, as well as the contribution of the financial sector to the formation of a more reliable investment profession.
