CFA Cyprus Advocacy Committee is part of the CFA Institute’s mission to advance Members value. It aims to advocate expertise in the local investment industry by promoting high ethical standards across the investment profession. Ultimately, CFA Society Cyprys is seeking to amplify market integrity and protect the local investment community.

3rd pillar of the Retirement Benefits planning: PEPP

CFA Cyprus Advocacy is currently promoting the Pan-European Personal Pension Product in the local financial industry, an EU Regulated instrument which is part of the 3rd pillar voluntarily pension scheme. Meetings were held with the Ministry of Finance, Central Bank of Cyprus, Association of Cyprus Banks, Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission to introduce PEPP to local authorizing parties.

Assist the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission in Governance Code

CFA Cyprus Advocacy is currently in the process to assist the local regulator to conduct a Governance Code by including Ethics.

European Public Consultations

CFA Cyprus Advocacy has been providing its input on European Public Consultations in collaboration with the CFA Institute (Brussels office) and other CFA European Advocacy Committees. Some of them include:

Memorandum of Understanding with the Cyprus Investment Funds Association

In December 2020, CFA Society Cyprus has signed an MoU agreement with CIFA to enhance relationships with the local funds’ professional association. It has been agreed that CFA Society Cyprus will assist CIFA in several of its technical committees while our Society offers training seminars on Ethics. Additionally, a joint working group has been created to assist in promoting PEPP to the local industry.

Events, Trainings and Seminars

CFA Cyprus Advocacy has presented an “Ethics in Investments” e-workhsop to the CySEC employees, CIFA Members and the Economic Diplomacy department of the Ministry of External Affairs. It has also collaborated with CFA Society Greece and presented the “Investor Trust” web event where CySEC’s Vice-Chairman was one of the distinguished guests and panelists.
