Research Challenge at a Glance
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics. CFA Society Cyprus is responsible for bringing the CFA Institute Research Challenge to local universities. A local-level Research Challenge is a local competition run entirely by CFA Society volunteers. Local competitions invite at least three different universities, each sponsoring a team of 3 to 5 students, to participate.
The CFA Research Challenge competition is unique because it promotes best practices, research skills, analysis, report writing, and presentation skills in action. It promotes how to conduct research ethically, how to analyze the relevant data and develop a recommendation and how to present and defend that recommendation in a professional manner. Students are tested on their analytical, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills, enabling them to gain real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst.

Key Initiatives
- 2 universities joined CFA University Affiliation Program; another 2 local universities are in-progress to join the Program. University Affiliation Program recognizes academic institutions that embed at least 70% of the CFA® Program Candidate Body of Knowledge™ (CBOK) into their curricula
- CFA Research Challenge successfully organized by the local Society for 10 consecutive years, offering up to 7 internship opportunities to the students
- CFA Society Cyprus established relationships with CFA Society Emirates and participated in the EMEA Research Challenge competition in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for the past 2 years, covering all associated participation costs of the students
